I have always loved boats, and the grace and adventure that they conjure up for me. I am lucky enough to have seen, in the nineteen fifties, the last days when boats were made of wood, and sun glowed through cotton sails. In ""Regatta"", I wanted to capture those glorious days when all sorts of crafts would gather in an exciting maritime festival, to watch sailboats compete in the historic Charleston Harbor. The Artist
